Our two sites were situated pretty much next to a road, so it was a little noisy at times. But other than that, it's a nice campsite. The campground is easy to navigate. Lot of space, clean modern washrooms with outlets to charge your batteries or whatever, and a good water tap. No shower though, you have to drive for a while to the pay shower near grant village or old faithful.
This place is full for most of the summer. There's also an ampitheatre presentation (outdoors) every night @ 9pm. Free, and very educational, usually about the history of hte park or animals... etc.
To get to the main attractions of yellowstone you have to drive for a while. However, a short walk takes you to Madison river and a beautiful view!
In the river you can fly fish, and you'll see animals like elk.
My trip was wonderful. Yellowstone itself is also fantastic.
