Campground Descripton:  Every spring and fall, rainbow trout and chinook salmon struggle over each ledge of this cascading waterfall to spawn upstream. Flanked by immature forest, the falls used to power a timber mill and generating station. Now they are the terminus of the Rankin River canoe route, ideal for novice canoeists.

Campsite 129  - On the river...

We were worried about the size of this site. MNR say the site is small. The site turned out to be quite large, with lots of room at the back of the site near the river for your tent. The only issue we had with the site was that it really lacked privacy. This wasn't a big issue for us as we had friends camping next to us in 131, and our neighbours in 127 were pretty quiet. There is some road noise at night, but it is minimal. There are downed trees in the river, so I don't know if you could launch a canoe for the site. Great shade, close to the hiking trail, close to the water tap and comfort station.

Rating:

Camp Date: 5/17/2008

No privacy from the road or other campsites and little shade. Also, the campsite backs onto the road outside the park as well, so you hear traffic all the time. Comfort Stations are a good walk, but water tap is right beside the site. The sites in the East Campground at Sauble looked much nicer (for future reference, lol).
